Hi Everyone,

I just finished my first month as President.  Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve.  What an interesting experience!  I’m learning a lot.  I’ll be 69 this year and it’s the perfect thing to be doing at this part of my life.  Doing the strategic plan, creating the budget, putting together my leadership team was a trip.  Now I’m learning how to actually be a leader.

Speaking of leaders, our District is starting to prepare for the All Club Meeting in January.  This year it’s called A Celebration of Gifts, and is the occasion of a visit by RI President, KR Ravinderin to our District.   Save the date!

When we created our Club’s Vision, we said that we wanted to support the Guerro Clinic.  Having more people participate in the Eye Clinic Service Project is one way we can do it.  This October, I’m going with Rod Mace!  Ellen Weiss is going too.  We will get to be one of those traveling Rotarians - like in Rotarian Magazine!  Actually delivering the service for which we raise all this money for should be pretty cool.  It’s going to be a real adventure.  Here’s a link to their website, if you want to check it out:  http://www.guerreroclinic.org/   You can go with us if you want to - we have room for you!

It is with great excitement and honor we announce that HOUSTON has been selected as the 2022 convention city!
TImagehis was a lengthy process that involved many people throughout our District and this selection could not have happened without their dedication to presenting Houston and District 5890 as the only choice for Rotary International. I would like to thank PDG Rhonda Kennedy for her leadership as the Bid Committee Chair and all of the members of the committee who worked tirelessly to make this selection possible. Rotarians this is just the beginning of our road to 2022.

Over the next six years we will be planning a convention that shows Rotarians from around the world exactly why Houston was not only the right choice but the only choice for the best International Convention possible. District 5890, you are the best and we are going to be depending on you to help make this happen so when the time comes please volunteer your time and expertise by serving on one of the many committees that will be available. Again, congratulations District 5890 on being selected as the 2022 Rotary International Convention site!
