On Friday, May 22nd, we’ll be welcoming Wayne Beaumier to our podium.
Wayne is the District 5890 Disaster Relief Chairman and ambassador to Disaster Aid USA. Disaster Aid USA is a Rotarian Operated Project that provides shelter, clean water systems, tools, mosquito nets and other needed items to survivors of disasters.
DAUSA also partners with others to provide water filtration projects wherever needed. The organization vows to be completely transparent and welcomes inquiries about how donations are used. DAUSA partners with Disaster Aid Australia, and Disaster Aid UK and Ireland.
DAUSA uses blue and yellow boxes to better reflect its Rotary roots and connections. These boxes are equipped with wheels and handles for easier movement; they are sturdy and not susceptible to breakage. This kind of practicality is a hallmark of DAUSA.
The tent used by DAUSA was designed by an experienced DART Team Leader based on his experiences out in the field and the needs he saw there. For example, many cultures require a distinct separation of sleeping areas for women and children, especially in disaster zones where they are particularly vulnerable. The tent provides three separate areas, each with its own entry with privacy and mosquito screening.
Wayne Beaumier is the VP of sales at Standard Safety Equipment Company, a manufacturer of reusable chemical clothing. The world is his sales territory.
Wayne is very involved in the Boy Scouts, Little League, and the Rotary Club of Bear Creek-Copperfield. He has been married for nine years and has four children.
