The Sheriff Came to Town

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia honored us with a visit on September 2nd.  Did you know that the unicorporated areas of Harris County collecitively would be the 6th largest city in the nation?  Less and less of the county becomes rural everyday and it is starting to more resemble a city.    With this comes "city" type issues.  Sheriff Garcia shared with us some of his activities during his service as Harris County Sheriff.  He hired an administration officer from the private sector to drive costs out of the system like a business.  He established a Retail Organized Crime Unit to reduce the loss that gets passed on to consumers from shoplifting and robbery.  Improvements have been made in the county jail that houses ~ 11,000 people everyday.
