President Carter Franklin will be stepping down on Friday, and President-Elect Sheila Franklin will step into her role as President of the Memorial-Spring Branch Rotary Club for 2014-2015.  The new slate of board members and committee chairs will also be installed.

Friday, June 27, 2014, our club's leadership will change.  Every year, the old President and his or her leadership team steps down and a whole new team steps into Club Service.  The Rotary motto of "Service above Self" is exemplified in those members who participate in Club Service.  Nobody gets paid to serve as President or Sergant-at-Arms.  Those people who greet us with a smile and take our money as we come to meetings....they are doing club service.  Those people who wrangle with the venue to make sure our needs are taken care of...the folks who put up our banners and audio/video equipment.  All doing club service.  Some of us take point on service projects, some of us liaise with our Rotary District 5890 leadership.  Some people go out and visit local businesses or follow-up with visitors.

Mostly, the people who do this are the ones who don't wait to be asked.  They ask for the job they want!  Sometimes, the job asks for them.  Sometimes we forget that Rotary is a service organization and we just come to lunch and listen to the speaker.  Then we complain to ourselves that nobody every asks us to do anything.  Stop waiting to be asked...step up to the plate!  All board meeting are open to all club members.  That's where the planning goes on.

To do a job in Rotary, you don't have be the "right" one, or the "best" one, you just have to say that you will BE the one!  And then...you are THE one!
