Our speaker for the day was Reginald Adams who, along with his wife, Rhonda Radford-Adams, founded the Museum of Cultural Arts approximately 11 years ago. A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Adams got into the project to assist young urban students in gaining a sense of social awareness that would provide educational enrichment while at the same time providing community development in the areas served by the work of the Museum. Through MOCAH, Reginald has facilitated the design, coordination and production over 100 public art projects across the Houston area. More than $3MM has been reinvested back into Houston communities through these public art projects and programs. These projects have been co-created with the involvement of over 15,000 area youth, 90 international, national and local artists and hundreds of community stakeholders. During the course of his remarks, he mentioned several specific projects operated by MOCAH and had an a-v presentation of the works of MOCAH in the community. Adams also mentioned a recent grant received by MOCAH that will be associated with the “Fruits of the 5 th Ward” program. He invited members to come and see the Museum at any time and see the fabulous works of the kids on display.
