Harris County District Clerk Chris Daniels
The speaker for the day was Chris Daniel, the Harris County District Clerk. After providing a lengthy story about how felt a calling to get into public service, he discussed the various jobs which are done by the Harris County District Clerk’s office. He differentiated his job from that of the Harris County Clerk and indicated that his biggest job since taking office was to ensure stability within the office to streamline the work needed to be done to keep the court system working smoothly. Chris also discussed the efforts being done by his office and other historians to preserve the old District Court records and handed out information as to how laymen can be involved in that work. He also introduced Jennifer Hallmark and Mike Redd from his office. He stated that he presently has 450 staff workers with a total operating budget of $23,000,000.
