Ladies of Memorial-Spring Branch Rotary started Monday morning shopping for Thanksgiving “Meal in a Bag” groceries. The grocery meals will go to families served by the East Spring Branch Food Pantry.
 


 
Venu and Elsie Rao recently visited their 100th country, Belgrade, Serbia. They marked this special travel milestone by presenting what they have learned from traveling to all corners of the world.
 


 
Memorial-Spring Branch Rotarians, led by Sheila Franklin, donated and assembled several tricycles for the Nabor House Community (NHC). NHC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps low-income families on a path out of poverty through affordable early childhood centers.
 


 
Chris Schneider (MSB Rotary), Ute Schneider (Space Center Rotary) and Rotarians from several District 5890 Clubs raised over $42,000 in this year's Ride to End Polio, in which the amount raised is triple matched by the Gates Foundation! This was Chris and Ute's finale in leading the Ride to End Polio. 
 


 
Insurance specialist Joe Melham with Voya Financial, shared very interesting insights on life settlement insurance and its financial benefits to seniors. A former member of the Rotary Club of Memorial-Spring Branch, he has been in the insurance business since 1966, specializing in life settlement since 2005.
 
PDG Nancy Anderson delivered banner awards to Memorial-Spring Branch Rotary Club (MSBRC) for being the No. 1 Rotary Club in District 5890 in highest Rotary Foundation Giving in 2024-2025.
PDG and MSBRC Rotarian, Chris Schneider, was instrumental to the Club's achievements with his major contributions to the Rotary Foundation. We are deeply honored and grateful to Chris!
 


 
Shepherd Ellis is from Spring Branch Medical Supply and also a member of the Rotary Club of Harrisburg. He discussed about aging in place and senior living options.
 


 
Kristi Slawinski, Director of Senior Services, discussed the programs and services offered at Northwest Assistance Ministries, including Senior Services, Behavioral Health Services, Family Violence Center, Food Pantry, Housing Services, Vocational Training Center, and more.
 


 
Memorial-Spring Branch Rotary Club (MSBRC) members help raise funds for the Outreach Center of West Houston (OCWH). OCWH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides access to resources to communities and other nonprofit groups. Executive Director Jorge Quiñones is also a longtime Rotarian at MSBRC.
 


 
MSBRC President Genevieve and fellow Rotarians provided 500 dictionaries to third graders at Bunker Hill Elementary School as part of The Dictionary Project. Each student received a dictionary and a printed Rotary 4-Way Test bookmark to share with their parents and friends. The Dictionary Project provides students with a tool to help them with their reading and writing skills. The project is an example of the Club's community service to promote literacy and education.

WAIS Interact ROCKS!
WAIS Interact members came together and picked up any trash that was in the Japanese Garden and courtyards at Westchester Academy. More than 5 bags were completely filled up. Thank you for all your hard work! waisinteract
 


WAIS Interact members got the chance to plant trees in Downtown Houston with the District Governor and meet other Interactors across the Houston area. Over 600 trees were planted on the Columbia Tap Trail!
 
 
We got to enjoy a great meeting with our lovely Rotary sponsors! Members got to hear about what our sponsors do and even got a slice of yummy pizza!!
 
WAIS Interact Club members packed meals for children in need! Students also learned the reasoning for the items being packed and how it will help provide nutrition to children receiving the meals. Click images to enlarge. waisinteract
 
 
WAIS Interact is collecting gifts and cards/vouchers for gas and groceries. Items are collected by December 16. Gift wrapping and delivery by the Interact teacher and students will be on December 21.
